Summary: Almost-six-year-old Jack lists all the ways he is almost grown up. He can almost wear big clothes, except they are his big brother's and he wants them back. He can ride a bike, well almost. He falls off and gets chased by his big brother, the true owner of the now damaged bike. He also shows how he can make robots and almost ride a skateboard. This picture book is for kids who think big!

Young Reader Reaction: My daughter picked this book because she liked the title and front cover. She laughed when Jack's big brother chases him around trying to get his shirt back. She also said she understood how he felt and wanted to try things herself but was just too young!
Adult Reader Reaction: I enjoyed the simple message of accepting yourself at your current age. I am glad she enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure she would relate to a story about a boy, but clearly she found it relevant for her, too.
Pros: This fun, easy-to-read story is a book that every kid can relate to.
Borrow or Buy: Buy. If your child is having a hard time accepting his age or jealous of an older sibling this would be a great book to read with them. The story validates their feelings, but also reinforces that they are great where they are. Libraries will likely stock this book.
Educational Themes: The message in this book is that you can have plenty of fun at your current age. One way to bring the book to life would be to ask your child to list things s/he can do now that they couldn't do a year (or two) ago. Jack's activities also encourage kids to try new things ... and that is good at any age.
