Summary: Meet Kitty. She has a unique personality and is very expressive about the things she does/doesn't want to do. That includes taking a bath. There are things you need to know about giving cats a bath ... and tricks for pulling it off. Which one will really work, though? This is, essentially, a graphic novel. There are lots of facts about cats built into the story, too.
Type of Reading: bedtime story, family reading, anytime reading, independent reading, read aloud book, reluctant reader
Recommended Age: read together: 6 to 10; read yourself: 8 to 12
Interest Level: 7 to 10
Reading Level: 3
Age of Child: Read by an 8-year-old girl.
Young Reader Reaction: Our child roared through the whole book ... and asked if we could trade the dog for a cat. She stayed up extra to read on her own, and loved flipping back through the book to recount various events for us.
Adult Reader Reaction: Go figure - after all that she wants a cat! The author has done a fabulous job introducing a broad array cat facts into this funny story about giving Kitty a bath. The illustrations add a lot, but you need to sit together to read it aloud or else some of it doesn't make sense. We will look for other books with Bad Kitty.
Pros: Silly events and hilarious illustrations will have kids roaring and turning the page all in one sitting.
