Young Reader Reaction: This was a favorite for several nights recently. The story is good, and the giant illustrations of the various beetles are fascinating to a six-year-old boy.
Adult Reader Reaction: My, but these things are gross when blown up to sizes like 12" x 12". Still, if it's what he wants read, we're happy to oblige.
Pros: You'll learn lots about beetles, including the various types of beetles, what they eat, and how they live.
Cons: The oversized beetles!
Borrow or Buy: Try to buy a used copy, if your child likes bugs and such. Otherwise borrow it. It's worthwhile reading.
