Type of Reading: bedtime story, family reading, anytime reading, read aloud book, learning to read, middle grade reader
Recommended Age: read together: 3 to 6; read yourself: 6 to 9
Interest Level: 5 to 8
Age of Child: Read with 3½ and 4½ year old children.
Young Reader Reaction: Both kids loved them (although the 3 year old couldn’t always sit still through the end). The three of us have played being timber wolves, river otters, and turtles for days now.
Adult Reader Reaction: I thoroughly enjoyed reading the books to my kids. We read the whole series over several days time, and I was a little surprised that they enjoyed it so much and kept asking for more. But I am getting a little tired of being Mama Timber wolf.
Pros: The series covers a lot of animals such as otters and wolves that get little coverage otherwise. I learned a lot from the books, and the kids loved them.
