“There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all.” More
Summary: This is a quick rhyming read about a girl and her puppy, and all the activities they do together. From playing outside to taking a bath to getting into bed, these two have a wonderful time together and the puppy is obviously happy just to be loved. This is a rhyming board book that shows parallels between people and pets.
Type of Reading: bedtime story, family reading, anytime reading, playtime reading, read aloud book
Recommended Age: read together: 2 to 5; read yourself: 6 to 9
Interest Level: 2 to 5
Age of Child: Read with a 2-year-old boy (with a 3-year-old and 5-year-old listening in).
Young Reader Reaction: My 2 year old enjoyed the book, along with his two older brothers.
Adult Reader Reaction: I thought the pictures were delightful, the text was fun and upbeat, and went by quickly so that the attention span of a 2-year-old would not be lost. I wish one page had been removed, to make it a page shorter, but it was, overall, a successful read in our household.
Pros: Fun pictures, a fast read, upbeat and happy text make this perfect for reading with toddlers ... or letting them play by themselves.
Borrow or Buy: Buy or borrow. This is a fun book, great to give a toddler to read on their own.
Educational Themes: This is a book meant for sharing. With a bit of stretching you could talk about taking care of a pet.
