Young Reader Reaction: The boys liked the idea of the BMX bike races with the use of flashlights. As soon as I was finished, they wanted to read it again. I thought the boys would like it better than the girls, but there were a few girls that also liked it.
Adult Reader Reaction: If you want to capture and keep the attention of young adolescents, write books in which the characters are monsters, the plot revolves around “gravity games” and words like “berani”, “grind”,"ollie","kickflip" and “skitching” dominate the vocabulary. Add a few puzzles and riddles and you have a winner!
Pros: The story has all of the action and vocabulary that pre-teens and teens will love. It is the type of book that can inspire reluctant readers or remedial readers to give reading another chance.
Borrow or Buy: Buy. Adolescent readers will find the characters, setting, and plot exciting and enjoyable. The author has interwoven games, puzzles, and riddles that allow the reader to become more engaged in the story.
