Summary: From page to page, the reader is asked to identify who is still awake … and then who goes to sleep. This is a simple call and response book with animals that are familiar to a small child.

Age of Child: read at 3 1/2 years old
Young Reader Reaction: S/He got about half-way through the book and asked us to pick another. Multiple (attempted) readings produced similar results.
Adult Reader Reaction: This is quite simplistic, and, for our house, didn't help lull our child to sleep. Oddly enough, the child looking out the window at the activity isn't presented until the last page.
Pros: The illustrations are nice, with deep, soothing tones. The pages are heavy/thick, ready to handle multiple readings.
Cons: If you are looking for a new bedtime book for a PRESCHOOLER this isn't it. You probably need to start reading this one to an infant to get them to latch onto it.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow if you have a toddler or preschooler to see how they like it. This would make a nice gift for a mom-to-be.
Educational Themes: Beyond being a story for reading aloud to create a quiet bedtime environment, you can use it for object identification, both explicit (in the questions) and implicit (from the illustrations).
