Age of Child: Read with children ages 3 and 5.

Young Reader Reaction: They did like the illustrations and thought they were funny, but would have preferred more of a story. They were less interested in this book, probably because it was a little young for them.

Adult Reader Reaction: I like Wind, and think it would be a good book for a younger toddler. It very neatly expresses the different facets of a windy day. The illustrations clearly show how the wind moves, but in a way that I believe younger children would really like.

Pros: Clever and dynamic illustrations, relatable characters, and playful syntax will engage young listeners in understanding the wind.

Cons: None.

Borrow or Buy: Borrow. I think this would be a great library book, just because they would grow out of it fairly quickly.

Educational Themes: Pull this from the shelf on a windy day, then go outside and see how many ways life imitates the books. For example, go on a walk and talk about the wind in your hair, or look for the way leaves move about. For older readers (e.g., preschool) the text is simple enough that you could use the book to practice sight words.
