Young Reader Reaction: Our child has listened to us read the story several times. We haven't gotten any particular reaction one way or the other. However, when offered the CD, s/He was interested in exploring that.
Adult Reader Reaction: This is a nice story; it moves at a nice pace. You learn something, but aren't bogged down with minutia. The CD is outstanding, offering readers information about whales, dolphins, and porpoises, but also environmental topics, too.
Pros: The book and CD offer a great story with extra factual details and activities for all ages in the target audience.
Borrow or Buy: Buy. This is a multimedia product that will last a long time. There is excellent introductory-level science and social science, too.
Educational Themes: This one is all about the mammals of the sea. With the CD you can learn facts about various species, and also study more topical issues such as over-fishing, conservation, and animal protection.
