Meet Toni Buzzeo

Children's author Toni has always loved books. Her mother's love of reading inspired her own love of books, and as a young child living in Dearborn, MI, her two closest companions were her Grandma Mae Mackey and books. Toni would pick up books and lose herself in the stories as often as she could.

As a teenager, Toni discovered a love of writing, and began writing poetry. By the time she reached college, her work was being published in college literary magazines. Writing wasn't her only teen discovery ... she began working as a page at the Dearborn Public Library (Dearborn, MI) and, ultimately, chose library work as her career after earning a Masters in Library and Information Science. For sixteen years she worked as a Library Media Specialist in Maine. It was early in her career when Toni discovered that by blending her passions, she was great at reviewing books, too. She still writes reviews for Southern Maine Literary District Children's Book Review and AudioFile Magazine.

Toni has been writing for children for ten years. Her first picture book The Sea Chest (2000), has won regional and national awards, including an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award in 2002.
