Summary: Goat has made a beautiful kite. Super Duck wants to see the kite fly, so he runs and throws it. At first it stays low, but then the wind picks up and not only lifts the kite, but carries frog away! Together, the animal friends race to catch up with the flying frog. Super Duck grabs the kite string and climbs toward Frog. Frog is able to jump on Super Duck’s back and Super Duck flies them to safety. This picture book offers a humorous story about friendship and adventure.

Interest Level: 3 to 8
Age of Child: Read with a 5-year-old girl.
Little Kid Reaction: My daughter picked out this book because she was in the mood for an adventure. She liked the excitement of Super Duck and his friends rescuing frog. She kept offering advice as the friends were trying to get the kite to fly. She also cheered when Super Duck was able to rescue the frog.
Big Kid Reaction: I enjoyed the simple story about one friend becoming a hero. I also really enjoyed the pictures. I was surprised she got so involved with the story. It kept her interest.
Pros: A good story, an animal adventure, and great illustrations combine in this picture book about a super-hero duck.
Cons: None.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow. This is a fun book to read, but it is not so unique that you'll want to keep it forever. Definitely look for it at your local library!
Educational Themes: This is a story about friendship, the importance of working together, and perseverance. No one expected the wind to carry frog away, so there is an opportunity to talk about unexpected events, too.
