One night, while she is dreaming, she visits a place that can help her gain confidence and make better choices. This is a lightly illustrated chapter books to get kids thinking about healthier choices.

Recommended Age: read together: 8 to 10; read yourself: 9 to 12

Interest Level: 8 to 12

Reading Level: 4

Age of Child: Read by a 10-year-old child at Effort Baptist Church as part of the Children's Ministry and Use Your ABCs project.

Little Kid Reaction: I picked the book because the title made it sound really interesting. The book was a little weird, and I thought it should be for children younger than me. What I liked about the book is that even though Hannah was picked on, she never picked on anyone herself or tried to get back at them.

Big Kid Reaction: Review pending.

Pros: Preteen girls can see themselves in the challenges and awkwardness Hannah faces.

Cons: The references may be too obscure for some audiences and to direct for others.

Borrow or Buy: Borrow. The story has potential to help girls who are struggling with their own sense of value or self esteem.

If You Liked This Book, Try: YOU GO, GIRL … KEEP DREAMING A SPECIAL BOOK ABOUT ALWAYS BELIEVING IN YOURSELF , THE WORRY TREE , DO THE MATH #2: THE WRITING ON THE WALL

Educational Themes: Although couched as a dream, the messages about making healthy choices - and the benefits of those choices - are clear. This would be a good book for small group discussion.
