Summary: This story chronicles the life of Skylar Knight, the main character. Little Kid Reaction: BTSYA: Although this book did have some elements of jealousy, love, and fantasy, the way they were conveyed was a little plain. The storyline wasn’t terribly exciting, despite the thread of spies and assassins. The elements were introduced in a somewhat bland way. They were almost short with their narrations. I would have preferred learning about these elements through richer, more descriptive passages that really painted a vivid picture about the story they were retelling. Woodside reviewer: I picked the book because of the back cover, and I liked this book. It shows what high school is really like because there is always drama between "friends." I learned that your friends are not always your friends.
Big Kid Reaction: This book will bring back lots of memories of high school. The generation doesn't matter the what's important/what causes a crisis/how will I survive are the same. A nice, wholesome walk down memory lane!
Pros: Girls ages of 13 to 15 would most enjoy this book. Overall, it is a quick read with some overtones of mystery that young girls may enjoy. Parents may want to buy this book if their child is interested in knowing what a regular day is like for a high school girl, and some of the issues she faces. Woodside reviewer: The book is very realistic. It explains how things would really happen.
Cons: None. Unless you're an adult that needs larger font. The pages are pretty packed with text.
Borrow or Buy: Buy! This is a nice story and is an easy pick-me-up for a teen who needs that periodic affirmation that you're not the only person in the world in this situation. Woodside reviewer: Buy! This is a good book for high school girls because it talks about friends and the drama that can happen.
Educational Themes: Other than the reflectiveness offered by the hey-that's-me sense teen characters, there isn't much new here.
