Summary: A young boy has a new book and wants to find a good place to read it. His search leads him from place to place, with adventures & mishaps along the way. Every family member, each with their own kind of chair, play a part in the little boy's search for a place to read.
Type of Reading: any time
Recommended Age: read together: 2 to 6; read yourself: 4 to 8
Interest Level: 2 to 6
Age of Child: Started reading with child nearly 2 years old.
Little Kid Reaction: S/he was immediately attracted to two pages, which we read LOTS of times in the first sitting. We had to recite the two pages throughout the first few afternoons & evenings!
Big Kid Reaction: VERY CUTE. This one will take lots of reading, because there are plenty of sounds to make to complement the adventure.
Pros: The story is sweet, the poem is lyrical…and best of all s/he immediately loved the last page and greeted that "best place to read" with a hug!
Cons: It'll probably get tiring after awhile. Having to memorize the lines immediately took a little extra energy.
Borrow or Buy: Probably best to borrow it first and see if it’s a hit in your house. It's a little pricey for a picture book with so few pages.
Educational Themes: The story offers a simple lesson in try, try again…and eventually you will succeed.
Literary Categories: Fiction - picture book
