Astrology
Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events. Astrology has been dated to at least the 2nd millennium BC, and has its roots in Mesopotamian astronomy. Astrologers believe that celestial phenomena can influence human lives. In classical western astrology, this influence is thought to be mediated by the planets, stars, and other elements of the cosmos.
Modern astrology includes a range of less well-defined concepts, most prominently: natal astrology, which focuses on the supposed effects of the moment of birth; horary astrology, which involves determining the answer to a question by calculating the positions of celestial bodies in the moments leading up to and following this moment; and electional astrology, which seeks to determine the best time for important decisions. Astrology is often associated with a belief in celestial influence, but this does not define it. Astrology was widely accepted by many medieval Muslim astronomers and philosophers, but astronomy as a mathematical science remained dominant in Islamic thought until challenged by Copernicus’ heliocentric model of the solar system. Astrology is currently experiencing a resurgence. Modern astrologers use ancient principles as a basis for developing new insights into the relationships between planetary patterns and human experiences in daily life today.
Astrology has been practiced for thousands of years, and its principles are deeply rooted in various cultures across the world. Astrological symbols, such as the zodiac, are believed to represent different aspects of the universe, including energy and movement. Astrologers believe that through studying these symbols and their relationships with one another, they can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. Many people today use astrology as a tool for insight into their lives or as a way to enhance spiritual growth. Whether you’re new to astrology or have been studying it for years, there is always more to learn and discover about this fascinating field.
