Young Reader Reaction: Initially s/he wanted to read this multiple times at a sitting. But after El Hipotomo Amarillo was introduced, s/he no longer wanted this story.

Adult Reader Reaction: The story is fairly straightforward, though the vocabulary is beyond basic.

Pros: You can teach colors, seasons, and activities with this book.

Cons: The vocabulary may be beyond basic Spanish speakers, and the story unfamiliar enough (e.g., description of mowing the lawn) that toddlers lose interest.

Borrow or Buy: Borrow. The Pequenos Gigantes collection is a fun read, but not one that needs to be part of a permanent collection.
