Type of Reading: bedtime story, family reading, anytime reading, read aloud book
Recommended Age: read together: 4 to 9; read yourself: 8 & Up
Interest Level: 5 to 10
Age of Child: Read with an 11-year-old girl.
Young Reader Reaction: My daughter was fascinated by the masbaha and how Adam's Jidoo used it. I even got a hug at the end.
Adult Reader Reaction: I loved this book and the way it countered Adam's complaints of "I have nothing." There is so much to take away from the story, and its a good reminder to us adults that we take what we have for granted, too.
Pros: Adults will love the message and the way gratitude is presented. Kids will immediately see themselves (somewhat sheepishly) as Adam.
Borrow or Buy: Borrow, at least. This is a wonderful story with a universal theme and appeal.
