MEET TIM GARRISON

You might think that designing bridges and buildings and new communities would be excitement enough for this author. Nope. What really floats Tim’s boat is writing - especially magical adventure stories for kids. “I grew up with Tolkien [The Hobbit], Dahl [Charlie and the Chocolate Factory], and Baum [The Wizard of Oz] and found that I loved escaping to those fantastic places with the characters in those books. It makes me giddy to now be writing my own books! It is truly my passion.”

In March 2007, Tim published Magic, Bones, and Catacombs the first book in his Collin Chronicles series. As Tim explains, the stories are stew of his own life experiences growing up on a farm, his two sons, and an interest in prospecting gold.

When he's not crafting Ramey and Collin's next encounter with the Tommyknockers, Tim is running his business. He is president and CEO of ConstructionCalc, Inc., a company that provides software tools and knowledge to help building industry professionals do their jobs with more efficiency and safely.

Tim is the author of the books Cracks, Sags, and Dimwits - Lessons to Build On and Basic Structural Concepts for the Non-Engineer. He writes articles for various building industry-related magazines such as The Journal of Light Construction and Green Builder Magazine.

Tim holds Associate, Bachelor, and Master degrees in engineering and is professionally licensed in California and Washington. His specialties are structures and land development (civil engineering). Tim’s family (wife, Cindy, and sons Connor and Corey) lives near Sedro-Woolley, WA on a wooded hillside overlooking Big Lake.

You can learn more about Tim at his website: www.tkgarrison.com, scheduled for completion November 2007.
